Passing of Life Member Raymond Morris
Tuesday, July 7, 2020
It is with the deepest regret that the Blades Volunteer Fire Company announces that Raymond L. Morris, Life Member, answered his final alarm on July 3, 2020. Ray and his wife Sherri were involved in a motor vehicle accident and Ray succumbed to his injuries.
Known to us at BVFC as “Catfish”, he joined BVFC in August of 1993. Initially serving as a probationary firefighter, he moved into the position of fire police officer. Ray served in that role for many years.
In December of 1995, Ray submitted a letter to the membership and the Board of Directors requesting to be appointed to the position of Fire Company Chaplain. He served in that role until his untimely passing. He was always there to say words of prayer at our large gatherings and events.
Ray always had a joke or a smile. He truly cared for his fellow firefighter. It didn’t matter how long it had been since he had last talked to you, his first words were ”how have you been?”
At this time, no arrangements have been made. As soon as we have information on services, we will make the proper notifications. Please keep the Morris family in your prayers as Sherri is still in the hospital and has a long road ahead.
RIP Catfish,
You will be missed
