Blades Volunteer Fire/EMS Appreciation and Awards Banquet - Blades Fire Hall

The 29th Annual Fire/EMS Awards Banquet was held on Saturday, March 12 at the Blades Fire Banquet Hall. Sussex County Council President Mike Vincent served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Dinner was provided by Marilyns. PAVE Club from the Seaford High School provided table service for the evening and music by Reedy's DJ Service. After formal greeting's by President Todd Reilly and Chief Earl Chaffinch, representative's from our invited guests were introduced by Master of Ceremonies Mick Vincent. After Dinner, An presentation was made by Lisa Fensick, Committee Co-Chairman that a $1000.00 Scholarship was finalized and sent to Seaford School for students to apply for. The Scholarshop will be presented each year in memory of Past President, Secretary, Treasurer Arlan Neill. Arlan was also a retired School Teacher who taught in the Seaford School Dristrict. Arlan was very supportive with our Junior Member's and would help in any way could to help promote education. The first scholarship will be presented this year at the Seaford Graduation Ceremonies. Recognition and Awards were presented to various memebers for Fire and EMS Responses. Fireman of the Year Award for 2010 was presented to Chad Passwaters for his Heroic efforts during a Fire Alarm last year. EMT of the Year Award for 2010 was presented to Keena Rollins and Keena also received the Rookie of the Year for 2010. William Batson and Gerald Strother received the President's Award for their willingness to do and be there when needed to help at the many various activities that are held during the year. Chyrl Ruff, past Ambulance Captain was recognized by Current Ambulance Captain Paula Moore for her service to the EMS Service. Chyrl was presented her helmet shield that was made into a plaque. Jason Tharp and Gerald was presented EMS Driver of the Year by EMS Captain Moore. Ladies Auxiliary President Denise Roberts introduced the Auxiliary and presented gift to them. President Roberts also presented a check from the Auxiliary to President Reilly for the new Building Fund. After the Awards Presentation a dance was held where the Blades Volunteer Fire Company Entertainment Committee presented their version of the "Village People" and other musical groups.
