David Ruff, NREMT was presented the"Phillip S. Young" EMS Lifetime Achievement Award at the Delaware Emergency Services Annual Meeting and Banquet that was held on Wedensday, September 14th at the Dover Sheraton. This is the letter that was presented to the Delaware State Emergency Medical Services Association: David Ruff joined the Blades Volunteer Fire Company in August of 1974. Since that time he has been a avic supporter of our Ambulance service. He has served our company in many capacities. He has been Ambulance Captain, Ambulance Lieutenant, President and has held several Chief's position. He was also awarded EMT of the Year for the Sussex County Ambulance Association in 2008, Sussex County Firefighter of the year in 2009. David also served on the Emergency Responce team at the Dupont/Invista, where he is one of the head medical personnel. In the age of the career EMT, David has switched his primary EMS role to being the driver. He continues to assure that the ambulacne gets out day and night. He is currently serves as an Ambulance Lieutenant and represents our company at the County and State Ambulance Association meetings. David also is currently a CPR Instructor for the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. David's dedication to the Blades Volunteer Fire Company EMS service is extraordinary. He has given thousands of hours of his time to the Town of Blades and the surrounding Communities. He has done all this without the expectation of recognition for his efforts. The Officers and members of our Company believe he would be a great choice for the "Phillip S. Young" EMS Lifetime Achievement Award. Thank you for your consideration, Todd Reilly, President Blades Volunteer Fire Company
