Boy Scouts hold Ceremonial Flag Burning at Blades Park - Blades Public Park
Thursday, June 14, 2012

The Blades Town Park was the scene of our Local Boy Scouts conducting a Ceremonial Flag Burning on Flag Day. Boy Scouts from Troop 381 and Cub Pack 381 collected flags that had be flown and were in need of retirement. This is a very Honored tradition where the United States Flag are respectfully burned. The Boy Scouts presented various different readings regarding the history of the American Flag. When it was time to retire the Flags, each one was presented by a Boy Scout and a United States Veteran to be burned. Members of the Fire Company also participated in the program. After the Flag was respectfully burned the brass grommets were collected for later distribution to the various Veterans as a rememberance of the ceremony. There were approximately 65 people that attended. Over 80 Flags were collected by the Scouts.
