Due to Sta.71 Blades already assisting Sta.87 Seaford on a large gas line leak, Captain Scott requested crews from Sta.81 Laurel and a rescue company from Seaford to respond. He also requested additional ambulances from St.72 Bridgeville, Sta.78 Greenwood and Sta.71 Blades. Crews were able to free 3 occupants from the Grand Am in about 20 minutes. Due to a large fuel and oil leak command request DNREC to respond to the scene. Three patients were transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford for treatment. One firefighter was also transported for heat related illness. The northbound lanes of Rt.13 were shut down for nearly 2 hours during the alarm.
